We picked up a “screaming katy” baby doll the other day. ok, so, it’s got some wholly unmemorable name and it was a pain in the ASS to find the damned thing. the idea was we needed something baby-shaped and baby-sized that made baby-sounds, so k can start getting used to the annoying damned whiny loud thing that disturbs his naps.
i mean, we have a CD with baby sounds, too, so he can get used to the sounds from the computer, but i don’t think kiir ever opened that and put it on her computer.
kiir took it out of the box and was playing with it, when she hit some sound that K was NOT pleased with :o she we got him to settle down, and i went to put the doll on the sofa next to him, so he could get used to it. and kiir’s all “no don’t do that!” “why, we want him to get used to it, so he’s willing to just curl up next to baby” “yeah, but not destroy the baby!” .. He’s been going to camp, he’s unlikely to destroy anything, and he’s not likely to break a toy that he’s seen mommy playing with, b/c he knows it’s only his stuffed animals he can eviscerate. he’s really quite good about it, honestly
of course, he had no interest in laying down next to this this this THING that stole part of HIS sofa! so I moved “thing” to the coffee table, and he jumped down and went around to bark at it some more :o this could take a while, getting him to accept. and it’s going to be a pain in my ass when i want to just sit and play on the computer :o
and today he didn’t go to camp … hopefully he’s still wound down some from 3 days. I doubt it, but maybe :o if not, maybe i’ll squeak a baby at him and clean the house some more. b/c, you know, i’ve only been on that for 5 months, and I only have 1.5 or so more before baby breaks into the place and all my hard work goes up in stunningly annoying flames as 3 metric tons of baby stuff appears in the house and gets played with by the grandparents and everyone who comes to visit even though baby’s still sleeping
and then it goes downhill. i hope it warms up a LOT before then. b/c K’s going to need some quality time so he doesn’t feel like he’s suddenly being ignored by me. he has separation issues, and it’s possible that he might look at the baby as a rival, then, and that would be bad. at least until baby’s old enough to play back. :/ in the meantime, K gets lotsof camp!
