where to stop and think 21 March, 2008 at 5:47 pm
OK, so, I ride Metro (mass transit) every morning for work. And every day, there’s always some moron who walks up to the pay turnstile, STOPS, and spends 5 minutes rooting through their bags b/c it has JUST occurred to them that they need the pass to get on.
Now, these people are foolish. But I’ll admit, occasionally I’ve come up to the stile and suddenly remembered I needed to take out my card. and if it’s not in my shirt pocket where I keep it these days, I STEP ASIDE to let other people through whilst I look.
But the real morons are the ones at the other end. In DC you pass your card to get on, and then to get off. Because it’s set up with variable fares depending on how much of the system you traversed. Different from most places, I’ll grant. But the daily commuters who get off, walk up to the exit stile, AND STOP TO DIG THROUGH THEIR BAGS TO FIND THEIR PASS??? WTF? Hello? You do this every day! what, you figured “oh, the last 4 years were a fluke. Today they’ll have changed the system so I don’t need to scan out” ??? WTF? Sure, you put it in your pocket, you need to get it back out. But WHY did you put it back in your billfold, put that in your purse, and then bury your purse at the bottom of your gymbag??? WTF?
This has been brought to you by the fact that it has been pointed out that i named the site”daily gripes” and usually talk about K or Des and do very little bitching lately. This was, obviously, pointed out by the one person who reads this site :o
