Time for a Walk 2 September, 2008 at 9:01 pm

Last night, I took DK out to the park after dinner, so he could play on the slide and the sandbox and the swing etc. Apparently someone broke one of the kid-swings :/ So that’s gonna have a line for weeks I bet.

Anyway, after playing on the equipment for nearly an hour, he wanted to walk down to the lake. So we went down the path, since the playground is right by the lake (I walk through the playground when we go on K’s walks to the lake). He went down on the floating dock to look at the water, although I drew the line when he tried to climb in :o Then we went back up, I carried him past the dock so he’d quit trying to peer over the edges, and he went raring off down the path. Sure, part of the after dinner playtime is to let him run down before bed, so this works. More interesting than looking at hte playground equipment, for a change of pace, too.

He did that for a while, then wanted to be carried. But threw an absolute HISSY when I tried to carry him BACK, so I carried him forward some, then he wanted down and walked the rest of the way to the dam. It’s like half a mile, and he walked more than half of that. So I was downright impressed.

Down by the dam, the path comes back up towards the road, and he kept trying to run up to it. So I figured he was ready to go home. Because he was no longer interested in further forward motion around the lake. But he wasn’t interested in turning around either. So I ended up carrying him home. Oh. My. God. I’m not in the best of shape, but I’ve gotten pretty decent with carrying him around. By the time we got home, I was wishing I HAD called kiir to come pick us up down by the dam. There’s a parking lot there after all. WHY DIDNT I CALL???

OTOH, DK came home, had a quick QUICK snack, and went up and passed out on the bed in like 5 mintues. So apparently it worked.

Tonight I wasn’t willing to carry him past the docks to start that little escapade. My arms, and especially my back, still hurt from yesterday kid!
