Nah a pah! 24 June, 2009 at 1:17 pm

So, DK is talking more and more.

The other night, I gave him an icepop and I took an icecream bar out of the freezer for myself. When he finished, he asked (pantomime demanded) kiir go to the kitchen. And through a really bad game of charades, she got him an ice cream like daddy had had.

They came out to the living room and she opened the wrapper and gave it to him so he could take it out and eat it. And he looked at it, mumbled something, pulled it out, “na pa!”

He turned it around and over and about in his hands before finally deciding to put it back in the wrapper (which only partially worked, it’s not easy), handing it back to mommy and saying ‘Nah a pah!!’ After we finished laughing, we decided that he was quite clearly anticipating another popsicle (thus “Not a pop!”) and since we’d already agreed to (as far as he knew) give him one, it didn’t seem fair to not let him have it. So I got another ice cream, he got another pop. This time he looked at it closer before taking it out. “Pah.”
