puppy on crack! 5 March, 2007 at 11:12 am

seriously, my dog was whack this weekend.

Thursday was his shots. 24 (well, technically, it might be 48) hour hold before he’s allowed back at camp, to make srue tehre’s no reactions to the shots. hey, i can dig it. and he’s relatively down the day after his shots anyway, so it’s all cool. and he was. we went and ran around the field some, but it was warm and not a problem

saturday he went to camp again, b/c i wanted to play with furniture (i’ll post on that in a bit). he gets home, and he’s a bit barky and such, but ok. and apparently he bit a new girl, again. everyone knows he doesn’t MEAN to, but he still needs to knock that off :o but it was only a scratch.

Sunday-Monday he was going to be home, b/c we’re trying to cut back on our expenses and at 20$ a day, his day camp runs way up way fast :o except by 8:30 sunday morning he was barking a bunch and jumping and ALRIGHT ALREADY! dropped him off at camp, with him almost literally bouncing off the walls in the car. it’s like, who gave my dog uppers???

we picked him up last night, and he was acting all scared (tail down, kept hiding under kiir’s desk instead of curling up on the sofa to watch what I was doing, etc), which was kindof worrisome, but he curled up on my lap at dinner and then curled up with me at bedtime, so I think he was just over-exerted probably. i vaguely recall similiar reactions around his shots in the past, so it could just be a few days after his shots he feels all woozy or something.

this morning he gets me up at 6:15. barking. at the door. incessantly and in his loud “my people” voice. For all the world like someone was outside trying to get in and he was scaring them off to protect us (yay puppy!) … except there was no one outside. he spent a lot of time barking this morning, and i left about 10-15 minutes earlier than i might have, just b/c i couldn’t get him to stop for more than a couple minutes (oh, and i didn’t have anything to do heh). i think he went upstairs and barked at kiir. hopefully he used his pad when he had to go bathroom, since when i took him out he didn’t have a lotta interest in the concept. probably b/c it was cold :o *sigh*

they sell dog food and treats specially formulated for your “high energy dogs” and “active dogs” to “give them that boost!” … where’s the food for sedating them a bit? :o

(hopefully it warms up soon and i can start taking him for more evening walks, which might be some of his problem, but not usually on camp days … wonder if this morning he knew it was monday and monday is one of his normal camp days so he wanted to get me up … )
