so BMNG (Blue Marble, Next Generation) goes live tonight. They decided midnight was a good time for it to go live. Like they pay me enough to be up at midnight working on their shit

Today, however, I spent trying to get the last bits in place (I failed). Never even got NEAR the idea of installing the servers. Heck, I didn’t get that close to the concept of making builds for the install CD. Oops.

but that’s OK. have to get firewall openings signed, approved and, lest we neglect, IMPLEMENTED before an installed server would help anywhere anyway :o

bittorrent waiver’s been approved, just need to collect signatures. it went in the wrong order b/c it’s so far off the beaten track that no one had any idea what the review committee would say. and signatures are hard, so we left them for if it got approved. it did, enter the drama :o

form wants chief and security director. no problem. Oh, chief (A) is out of town until late next week, if he comes in next week? Uh. OK. I’ll go try his chief (B). … oh, B’s out of town until next week? uh, so who would i get to sign this? C? Let me go check, see if C’s an acceptable signature … (he is) … go back and … and … where’d C go? he’s in meetings the rest of the day?? there’s a break in his schedule in an hour? OK, i’ll wait (no, not really, but i made sure i was back before he was supposed to stroll past the office :o)

being in charge means never having to go to the office, apparently. got it signed, got sec director to sign. yay.

OK, but I als oneed some web ports allowed, for the tracker /etc. no problem, that forms easy! it IS the beaten path. I just fill out the … form of the week, they changed it AGAIN? whatever. ok. get it signed. this guy. sure. except he’s not in his office. he’s been seen around the building. it’s like where’s waldo. oh, i hear him in the hall, quick POUNCE! and he signs them and hands them back.

wtf am i supposed to do with it? there’s no directions after that step! shit. i’ll call the webmistress. oh, goody. she’s not in.

so the two easy forms i’m sitting on, the hardest one to get through should be clear. servers not installed. but i threw the small stuff up on the old servers, they should cover. and apparently we’re still writing the web page and announcements.

dotting the t’s, crossing the i’s man. i tell ya, mickey mouse? nah, we ain’t even betty boop!
